About Us

AfriNet is a grouping of companies on the African continent outside South Africa. The grouping is coordinated by AfriNet Management Services, based in Johannesburg. AfriNet is a grouping of companies in which Alexander Forbes and its partners have a controlling interest or are appointed the Managers. Each is an autonomous statutory company normally staffed locally and is totally focused on clients who operate in their specific country, at the same time they have access to all the other Group companies and resources.

Our aim is to provide a superior service by responding to our clients' needs and accessing the appropriate skills and products available via AfriNet and its partners worldwide. The network is co-ordinated by AfriNet Management Services which is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Alexander Forbes. Its sole task is to facilitate the growth of the companies by ensuring that the staff in the network receive the training and technical resources they need to meet their client's needs.

Our actuarial services include valuing a retirement fund's liabilities, calculating post-retirement medical aid liabilities, individual member calculations and providing related advice in these areas.

We provide holistic management of retirement fund benefits including benefit design and restructuring, advice to both defined benefit and defined contribution schemes, and the offering of member investment choice.

We provide a wide range of legal services and expert opinion in both the employee benefits and financial services industry.

MGAC's Network

The MGAC was founded in 1991 by independent actuarial and consulting firms from around the world who have ever since been working closely with one another in order to meet their client’s needs for international actuarial advice. The network meets regularly to discuss trends, share ideas and foster strong business relations.

In 2016 one of our members, Abraham Hernández Pacheco from Vitalis, México, has been appointed President of the Pensions, Benefits and Social Security Section (PBSS) of the International Actuarial Association (IAA), which is another great asset to our network.

Comprising 25 actuarial consulting firms and employing over 6000 people across six continents the MGAC enables our member firms around the globe to work together to provide clients with high-quality services related to the design, administration and communication of employee benefit plans. The MGAC also has extensive links with organizations in other countries not formally represented, and is ready to assist wherever required.

The map below shows where our member firms are located.
